Nirmala Singh has over five years of public sector professional experience. Her passion for bridging the social inequity gap has led her to create programs and build partnerships across nonprofits and government agencies.
Prior to joining the Common Impact team, Nirmala was the Community Programs Manager at Rockaway Initiatives for Sustainability and Equity (RISE). She oversaw the planning and implementation of RISE’s public programs as well as the management of corporate partners. Before RISE, Nirmala was the Senior National Service Program Coordinator at NYC Service, where she was essential in managing a 100-member program serving 50 nonprofits throughout the city. Before working at the NYC Mayor’s office, she was the Program Associate at the New York Immigration Coalition, where she helped to launch the inaugural Women Empowered to Lead Immigration Navigators program.
She is also a co-founder of South Queens Women’s March, a local gender-justice nonprofit, and a part of The Asia Foundation’s inaugural class of LeadNext Fellows: Ambassadors for a Global Future.
Singh strives to be a change agent and public sector leader by disrupting inequitable systems and advocating for sustainable solutions through cross-sector collaboration.
