BROOKLYN, NY: August 15, 2022 – Today, the Board of Directors of Common Impact, a national nonprofit leader in skills-based volunteerism, announced the appointment of Leila Saad as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 15, 2022.

Saad is a social impact veteran who is passionate about the tremendous potential for cross-sector collaborations to act as a force for positive transformation in the world. In her new role, she will report directly to the Board of Directors and lead the overall strategic, operational, financial, and managerial responsibilities for Common Impact.

“We are excited to welcome Leila Saad as Common Impact’s new CEO,” said Allen Carney, Board Chair of Common Impact. “For over twenty years, Common Impact has delivered creative and high-impact skills-based volunteering programming and has been a leader in creating social change across all sectors. Saad is a dynamic social impact leader with a history of success in developing and implementing innovative growth strategies. We look forward to working closely with her to guide Common Impact, our mission, team, and partnerships into the next phase of development and expansion.”

Saad comes to Common Impact from PILnet, a global organization that partners with law firms and companies to provide pro bono legal support to nonprofit organizations working to create more just, equitable, and sustainable societies. She served as a Director of Strategic Engagement, then as a Deputy Director before assuming the role of Executive Director for the organization. She has also worked as a nonprofit consultant, supporting the strategy and development work of global human rights and access to justice organizations, and held a leadership role with the JEHT Foundation, where she helped to develop and run a grantmaking portfolio to support organizations working to challenge U.S. exceptionalism to international law and legal mechanisms.

“I am honored and thrilled to join Common Impact and lead its diverse, talented, and dedicated team during this exciting new chapter,” said Saad. “I look forward to bringing my experience in high-growth initiatives to further build and expand upon Common Impact’s decades of innovative work building nonprofit capacity and engaging corporate volunteers in experiences that create transformational change.”

Saad will be based at Common Impact’s headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. She is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School, where she studied international political economy, and the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she studied art history.
