Sam holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Iowa, along with Certificates in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, and Disability Studies. Driven by a deep passion for advocating for others, her career has centered on supporting non-profit and social service organizations. With experience across diverse fields—including emergency management, election operations, education, and disability services—Sam has developed a broad understanding of community support strategies and interventions. She is excited to bring this wealth of experience to Common Impact.
As an AmeriCorps NCCC alumnus, she traveled the country, supporting FEMA in disaster preparedness and relief efforts. This experience ignited her love for exploration, leading Sam to take a year off to travel the world, immersing herself in different cultures and expanding her global perspective.
Originally from Vail, Colorado, Sam now resides in the Washington, D.C. area. In her free time, she enjoys visiting new places, knitting hats, cooking, and fostering cats.
