she/her

We all have a role to play in creating more equitable communities, and we all have something to offer and something to learn from working together across sectors and differences.

Building nonprofit capacity and engaging volunteers in experiences that transform both them and their communities has been a core purpose for Katie Stearns over the last two decades. In her role as Chief Partnerships Officer, Katie leads Common Impact’s corporate partnerships, storytelling and strategic alliances, all with the goal of alleviating inequality through skills-based volunteering.

Prior to joining Common Impact, Katie built and led volunteer engagement strategy and partnerships for iMentor Chicago, growing the volunteer cohort from 200 to 1,400+. She has also served in leadership roles at Points of Light and Chicago Cares, managing turnkey corporate employee engagement programs and large-scale volunteer events. Katie has worked with dozens of nonprofit partners and companies to translate social impact, talent development and employee engagement goals into meaningful, inclusive community change.

Katie is a lifelong volunteer and a native Chicagoan.
