Blyss believes in a world where we are all connected, reliant, empathetic, and embracing of one other, the land, and every living thing that makes each breath we take possible. As an interconnected web in community with each other, our survival and well-being are contingent upon each other – and that is portrayed through skills-based volunteering. In a collaborative volunteering atmosphere like this, you bear witness the power of a single individual and the impact we have when we come together.
Collective impact is the basis of Blyss’ community organizing, partnership, and advocacy work. With years of experience in a variety of nonprofit spaces, she has had the pleasure of working alongside her community to combat systemic racism as they advocate for their families, education, mental health, natural environments, and right to not just survive but thrive!
In addition to her work with Common Impact as a Project Consultant, Blyss serves her local waterfront community on the Executive Board for Guardians of Flushing Bay and nurtures equitable racial healing spaces for her herself and the BIPOC community as an herbalist and healer in her small business, Holistic Blyss. Blyss lives in New York, a guest on Canarsie and Munsee Lenape land. She holds a B.A. in Marine Biology from Boston University and a MSc in Natural Resource Management from James Cook University. She loves a good cup of tea and baking vegan treats!
